CNBC reports that Arkansas ranks as the fourth most dangerous city in the U.S. for vehicular deaths. This good news comes from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s Fatality Analysis Reporting System and General Estimates System, using most recent data available.

Here’s the data:
4. Little Rock, Ark.
Population: 189,515
Total fatality rate per 100,000 population: 17.94
Total fatalities: 34
Percentage of fatalities that were pedestrians: 26.5

Only Fort Lauderdale (No. 1), Orlando (No. 2) and Augusta-Richmond Co., Ga. (No. 3.), have a higher rate of death.

We do even better on number of pedestrians killed: We’re No. 3.

Working in an office near the intersection of Markham and Cumberland (actually, Markham, Cumberland, Clinton and LaHarpe) makes us especially interested in this data. If you’ve crossed there, you know why.
