I drove out to The Promenade at Chenal this morning. No, not for the Apple store. But we found a line just the same — about 30 people waiting for the 11 a.m. opening of the Big Orange, the week-old upscale burger/salad/shake entry from Scott McGehee and John Beachboard (ZaZa, etc.) Happy news is that the things moved expeditiously. Above is the Atom Bomb — in which, on top of a properly chewy, drippy burger patty, came jalapenos, pepper jack cheese, siracha sauce and chipotle mayo. Fries were crisp; a another crisp and cool choice was a big salad topped with apple slices and blue cheese.

We finished just before noon and one of our group wanted to look in Anthropologie, which happens to be next door to the famous new Apple store. I counted. 25 people were waiting in line for the noon Apple opening, a few more than the number in line for seats in the still full Big Orange.
