Belatedly, here are statements issued yesterday by the family of Dexter Williams, whose body was found in a whirlpool tub in Maumelle on Labor Day, and by Brett Cummins, Channel 4 meteorologist, who was at the home at the time.
The police are investigating whether drugs and alcohol may have played a role in Williams’ death. The link above, to Channel 4, quotes Cummins as saying he was “devastated” by the death of his friend. Cummins, the Channel 4 report said, “will not be on the air as he continues mourning the loss of his friend.”
The statement, issued through Cummins’ attorney Mark Hampton, said Cummins is “secure in his own innocence and confident that no foul play was involved.”
Williams family said it was “disturbed” by circumstances surrounding the death, but “confident” authorities will fully investigate.
Police have said Cummins was asleep in the tub and awakened by a resident of the house to find Williams, who’d also been in the whirlpool, was dead.
