An e-mail has arrived from West Fork. Can I get a confirmation — or better yet, a photo?

A correspondent says the famous marquee of Republican state Rep. Justin Harris’ taxpayer-subsidized preschool, Growing God’s Kingdom, the one that once thanked God for providing for summer school at his preschool (who knew God wrote checks from the state treasury?), has a new message today:

Romans 1:16.

I looked it up in King James Version:

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel of Christ: for it is the power of God unto salvation to every one that believeth; to the Jew first, and also to the Greek.”

Harris, in other words, continues to play the martyr card, if my report is correct. He encourages backlash against the state, which is all too prone to suasion. After all, the state Human Services Department and Education Department let him teach Bible for almost a decade, while sending him almost $1 million in tax money annually. Last week, it finally took steps toward making the statutorily required inspection for impermissible religious influence. But only after Americans United for Separation for Church and State made a formal complaint.

Nobody is asking Harris to be ashamed of the gospel of Christ. A few are merely asking him — and the state of Arkansas — to obey state law and the U.S. Constitution and not use tax money to teach the gospel of Christ.
