A new wrinkle in felonious assaults:

Police report two men tried to assault women going to a car in the Rave theater parking lot off Col. Glenn Road about 6:45 p.m. Sunday. According to the police report, victims said one of the men put what she called a Taser to the neck of one 27-year-old woman, who resisted. Another man with a similar device then tried to grab her. Her companion, also 27, started screaming and their noise apparently panicked the men, who got in a car and drove away. One dropped a ski mask at the scene. No one was seriously hurt and no arrests have been made. The assault occurred despite the presence of security, an off-duty Pulaski deputy, but the lot is large and not well-lit.

PS — The Taser people note that Taser is a trademarked name and shouldn’t be used as synonymous for devices that disable with electric shocks. The victims used the word. Neither they, nor the Taser PR rep who complained, can say whether it was a Taser-brand stunner used in this particular crime since none was left at the scene.
