The State Police says a Newark man was wounded by gunfire from State Police and Independence County deputies after firing a rifle at them at the end of a chase that began when he allegedly rammed a State Police car. James Chapman Perkins, 46, was wounded and hospitalized in Little Rock after surgery. The State Police release follows:
