OK, it’s old news, but for two days running now the Democrat-Gazette has given only passing attention to Bobby Petrino’s finger-pointing, epithet-mouthing unhappiness when LSU’s Les Miles ran up the score on the Hogs in Baton Rouge. It’s true he hasn’t made himself available for much comment since the rout. See for yourself above if you missed it Friday.
No big deal from my profane point of view. But do you think there would have been greater press inspection and questioning if, say, it had been Houston Nutt? Or Nolan Richardson mouthing what appeared to be coarse words? Petrino’s going to lead us to the promised land — or be paid $18 million if he fails — so staying on his good side is important to those who must cover him for a living. He WOULD appear to have a temper.
AND SPEAKING OF FOOTBALL FILM: It’s been mentioned several times by readers — and the editing by apparent Alabama fans is heavy-handed — but megapreacher Ronnie Floyd’s interview with Auburn assistant coach Gus Malzahn’s wife, Kristi, is, well, something. The Malzahns were part of Floyd’s flock when they lived in Arkansas. Football coaches’ wives are rarely to be seen, much less heard to the extent Mrs. Malzahn beats down athletes and kids generally in one of Floyd’s weekly luncheon/interview sessions known as The Summit.
PS — A correspondent reports the video is no longer posted on church website and Mrs. M. No longer has twitter and Facebook accounts.
