A spokesman for the North Little Rock Police Department said a search of Poplar Street Middle School found no evidence of a bomb that an anonymous e-mail threatened was planted there.
Poplar Street Middle School is at 2300 Poplar Street in North Little Rock. The person who answered the phone there this morning referred all calls to the North Little Rock School District.
Sgt. Brian Dedrick with the NLRPD said that the school received a bomb threat in the form of an e-mail last night just after 9 p.m. Dedrick said that six or seven patrol officers and four supervisors searched the school beginning at 7 a.m. this morning, but didn’t find a bomb. The department sometimes uses a bomb-sniffing dog to investigate bomb threats, but Dedrick said there was not one available this morning so the inspection was visual.
Students were diverted to another campus as they arrived this morning. An automated phone call informed parents of children who attend the school of the bomb threat at about 9:15 a.m., after classes were back in session.
