Star geriatrician Dr. David Lipschitz is leaving St. Vincent’s Longevity Center in what sounds like a dispute over pay. An unusually candid news release from hospital president and CEO Peter Banko said, “Unfortunately, after three proposals for working together and several months of discussion, both parties were unable to come to mutual agreement for a continued relationship.”
Lipschitz, also known as “Dr. David,” left the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences, where he was the longtime head of gerontology, in 2008 for the job as longevity center executive director at St. Vincent. Arkansas Business reports he will go to Baptist Health; we have a call in to confirm that. UPDATE: Mark Lowman of Baptist Health said the hospital has been in talks with Lipschitz for a couple of months, but no contract has been signed yet.
Lipschitz’s last day at St. Vincent will be Feb. 29.
