Well. It rained here for about five minutes. The photo above comes from David Rose of Hot Springs, where strong winds, among others, hurled a planter through the wall of a movie theater and caused other damage downtown, Fox 16 reports. * THIRD CHILD DEATH: KFSM reports the death in Benton County of a three-year-old who climbed into a family car Saturday and was unable to get out during the extreme heat. This follows the news of the death of a child left for two hours in a car in a Springdale Walmart parking lot and the death of a 16-month-old child left in a car all day in Newport when her father forgot to drop her off at day care before going to work.
* PEDESTRIAN DEATH IN LITTLE ROCK: Little Rock police reported the death of a 66-year-old pedestrian on Taylor Loop Road this morning. She was apparently out for a walk from her home on nearby Westchester. From Sgt. Cassandra Davis:
On August 05, 2012 at 0842, Officers responded to Taylor Loop Rd and Blackthorn Dr in relation to a fatality accident. Officers arrived and made contact with Jim Garner, the driver of a 2012 Ford F150. [His age was listed as 72.] Mr. Garner advised that he was west on Taylor Loop Rd near Blackthorn Dr when he realized he had struck something. Mr. Garner advised that he turned around and noticed Margaret Proctor lying in the roadway. Mr. Garner called communications and advised them of the accident. It appeared that Ms. Proctor was walking on Taylor Loop Rd and was struck from the rear by Mr. Garner. Mrs. Proctor’s injuries were fatal.
No arrest or charges have been made. The case will be submitted to the prosecutor’s office for further review.
