The Little Rock police say Detective Todd Hurd, a member of the force since 1992, fired the two shots that killed a burglary suspect, Michael Daniel, 25, Friday morning.

The police report said that Hurd fired when the suspect was attempting to take a gun from Detective Kenneth Blankenship, a 27-year veteran. The police narrative of events, much like one released Friday without identifying the officers involved, follows on the jump. It says Daniel stopped during a chase as if to surrender, then started fighting with Blankenship.

The police are not saying where the slain suspect was wounded until autopsy results are complete.
