Little Rock School District spokesman Pamela Smith says an unloaded gun and a loaded magazine were found during a random scan at Hall High School.

The gun was found by the scan; the student surrendered the loaded magazine. The LRSD Safety and Security personnel took possession of the gun and the student was disciplined “according to the LRSD Student Handbook.” We have a question in to Smith asking what that means.

School officers followed with a full student body scan after the incident. “LRSD requires quarterly scans of all students on campuses, three random scans of students and two random scans of lockers. Schools may elect to do them more frequently. Hall conducts one random scan of five rooms daily,” Smith’s news release said. She writes that those with concerns or questions may call the principal, John Daniels, at 501-447-1902.

UPDATE: Police spokesman Sgt. Cassandra Davis said the gun was a .9 mm Lorcin. Here’s the police incident report. It says the clip had 6 mm rounds in it.
