Arkansas Children’s Hospital put out a “Code Echo,” the code for an “internal disaster,” this morning after a water line break about 10:15 a.m. filled the basement of the Sturgis Building with 2 to 3 feet of water, hospital spokesman Dan McFadden says. The break shut down the hospital’s telecommunications system and MRI; patients needing immediate MRIs were sent to UAMS.
McFadden said computers, phones and the water is back on and the basement cleaned up. He said the break did not affect surgical or clinical schedules. The hospital initially suspected a sewer line had broken.
