Cissy Rucker, director of the Arkansas Department of Veterans Affairs, says a three-member search committee has come up with four potential locations for a new state veterans home, to replace the one closed in Little Rock.

She’s going to send me the detailed proposals from the four locations — Benton, Jacksonville, Russellville and Chaffee Crossing. I’ll post links when I have them.

The plan won’t go forward until the state has assurances on an $18 million federal contribution to the home’s cost.

The task force will visit the sites Aug. 19 and 21.
