CHARLIE COLLINS

Republican Rep. Charlie Collins of Fayetteville apparently has firmly announced his candidacy for lieutenant governor. A number of other Republicans are mulling. Highway Commissioner John Burkhalter is already in the race as a Democrat.

I’m guessing Collins won’t be trotting out a lot of endorsements from the higher education community on his good judgment. He went 0-49 (with one small Bible college not yet reporting) on his legislation to give public and private college boards the power to let staff members carry concealed weapons on campus. None took Collins up on the new power.

Collins is going to create jobs. Oldest line in the lt. gov. book. But never grows old. Going to be used by all candidates this year. Except maybe Mayberry, who will mostly talk about abortion. More words from Collins here by Roby Brock.
