The Little Rock police department reports that a Faulkner County jail escapee is believed responsible for a carjacking about 7 a.m. Monday at 1200 S. University.
Elizabeth Benton, 51, of Little Rock woman said she had gotten out to get fuel when a man who acted as if he had a gun asked her several times if she wanted to live. He then grabbed her and struggled with her, finally throwing her to the ground. He got in her car, a 2008 Infiniti SUV, and drove away. She was treated for lacerations to her head and a possible back fracture.
Sgt. Cassandra Davis said the car was recovered after Mayflower police stopped it Monday afternoon after a low-speed pursuit in Conway. Two escapees were arrested then. Jonathan Jackson, 24, of Greenbrier, remains at large. The LRPD release doesn’t make clear which is believed responsible for the carjacking. The three, being held on drug and other charges, busted out of a jail recreation yard.
UPDATE: Reports of Jackson’s arrest in Oklahoma.
