Reports began coming in last night about problems with a change to the program that operates our blogging system.

The designer has strengthened protocol on use of links in reader comments as a means to discourage spamming.

Unfortunately, it’s not working right.

The new protocol is not supposed to affect members who’ve been registered for 30 days.  New members can’t post active links for 30 days. Also, if a comment has been removed, that will cause a temporary suspension of active linking privileges.

I can’t remember the last comment I removed of an established member.

Nonetheless, long-time members with clean records are not being able to post active links.

I’ve messaged the support people about this problem and labeled it urgent. But I can’t predict how quickly we can get this fixed.

I feel your pain.
