Max is on the road today. Filling in and wrapping up, the line is open…

Johnny Cash of Kingsland, Arkansas, died 10 years ago today. If memory serves, I was at Pizza D’s on the day he died. They played Cash all night long and folks cried a little and drank a lot. From his daughter Rosanne Cash at his funeral:

He was not an icon when he told us how proud he was of us. He never raised his voice and he never lectured. He respected us as much as we respected him. He was a Baptist with the soul of a mystic, a poet who worked in the dirt. He was the stuff of dreams and the living cornerstone of our lives. I can live with the idea of a world without the icon Johnny Cash, because there will never be a world without him. I cannot, however, imagine a world without Daddy.

*TWITTER GOES PUBLIC: Twitter has filed for an initial public offering. Announced via tweet, natch: “We’ve confidentially submitted an S-1 to the SEC for a planned IPO. This Tweet does not constitute an offer of any securities for sale.” Re-tweeted 9,097 times and counting.

*MORE OBAMACARE: The folks at Arkansas Advocates have a new one-page infographic on the Affordable Care Act. This stood out to me since I’ve been thinking about premiums: “The amount you will pay depends on a few things: • Your income • The number of people in your family • Your age • Where you live • Whether you use tobacco.” That’s it. Not on pre-existing conditions or health issues beyond our control. A lot of the coming debate about Obamacare premiums really amounts to what you value more: cheap rates for the healthy or coverage/security for all.

*SECURITY BOARD MEMBER RESIGNS: Fox16’s David Goins reports that Joey Smith, a member of the State Board of Private Investigators and Private Security Agencies, resigned today. His resignation comes in the wake of the divided vote that gave school districts clearance for licenses to arm staff on campus. Smith did not give a reason in his letter of resignation, but Board chairman Ralph Sims said that it was for personal reasons.

*ANOTHER GOP GOVERNOR FLIPS ON MEDICAID EXPANSION?: Sounds like Pennsylvania Gov. Tom Corbett is set to become the 10th Republican governor. Murmurs are that he’s interested in some version of an Arkansas “private option” style plan.
