Seen above is a video uploaded a few days back which shows what is claimed to be the new state record alligator — 13 feet, 9-1/4 inches — which was taken in Lost Lakes, Arkansas. The old record was a 13’3″, 1380-pound specimen killed on Millwood Lake in Hempstead County in Sept. 2012

The narrator of the video says that the new record ‘gator was around 70 years old and was killed with a harpoon and a shotgun. Since the video doesn’t really do much for perspective, here’s a photo that claims to be hunter Drew Baker with his catch. For a little more perspective, 13’9″ is only about a foot shorter than a 2013 Honda Civic.
