I wrote this morning about the entry of Little Rock lawyer Clarke Tucker in the race for an open seat to represent House District 35, which covers the Heights and a big stretch of the city west and south.
Now, a Democratic Party spokesman tells me, the previously announced Democratic candidate in the race, Jodie Mahony, has decided to drop out and throw his support to Tucker. An announcement from him is expected later this afternoon.
That leaves Tucker and Republican Stacy Hurst, a Little Rock city director, as declared candidates.
UPDATE: Linda Napper, a political consultant, said Mahony, a public relations consultant, had earlier decided to drop out of the race for personal reasons, but had withheld the announcement until a replacement had emerged.
