KARK reports that Little Rock has made a Top 10, ranking at No. 5 on a list of the country’s
in the category of population under 200,000. Among those 10, Little Rock was one of only three that didn’t report a decline in crime according to recently released FBI statistics, KARK reports.

The survey says new data released by the FBI Feb. 18 shows seven out of the Top 10 had less crime than the same period during the prior year, but not Little Rock.

Law Street’s information on Little Rock states that the city bucked the nationwide trend of decreasing violent crime and actually saw an increase of 2 percent between the first six months of 2013 and the same time period in 2012. A 20 percent increase in robbery was a major reason for the uptick.

The survey compared data on murder, rape, robbery and aggravated assault from the FBI’s Uniform Crime Report.

Here’s the survey on which he report was based.
