Kerry Wayne Evans, one of the stars on “Clash of the Ozarks,” a Discovery Channel “reality” show set in Hardy, pleaded guilty this week to illegally possessing an unregistered machine gun, AP reports. He faces 10 years of jail time and up to $250,000 in fines. Sentencing is scheduled for June 20.
Will Stephenson, the Times arts and entertainment editor, wrote a cover story about the show this week. “Clash” follows a supposed blood feud between Evans and a man named Crowbar Russell that extends back to the mid-19th century between the Evans’ and Russell families. Several Hardy residents that Will spoke to said the modern rivalry was invented for the show.
