The Democratic Party of Arkansas is doing some bragging, as their congressional candidates out-raised opponents in the first quarter this year:

AR-01: Jackie McPherson Outraised Rep. Crawford. In the first quarter of 2014, Jackie McPherson raised $111,645, more than the $97,455 raised by Rep. Rick Crawford.

AR-02: Patrick Henry Hays Outraised Republican Opponents Combined. In the first quarter of 2014, Patrick Henry Hays outraised all of his potential Republican opponents. Hays raised $353,887 – more than his Republican opponents combined. French Hill raised $300,133, Col. Conrad Reynolds raised $26,376, and Ann Clemmer raised $25,705.

AR-04: James Lee Witt Outraised Republican Opponents Combined. In the first quarter of 2014, James Lee Witt raised $ 268,802– more than his potential Republican opponents combined. Tommy Moll raised $115,716, and Bruce Westerman raised $65,125.

Lots of caveats here: incumbent Rep. Rick Crawford is a heavy favorite likely sitting on a decent amount of cash on hand. Meanwhile Hays and Witt both face multiple primary opponents, splitting the GOP fundraising haul. Still, at least represents a good sign that Democrats will have the means to be competitive across the state and that there is some enthusiasm on the Dem side despite the off-year election in a reddening state.

One thing that jumps out at me is that relative newcomer Moll is substantially outpacing Westerman, who just finished six years in the Arkansas House. Meanwhile, Clemmer, who also just finished six years in the House, must be feeling more than a little nervous. Big haul for Hill.

LITTLE ROCK- Following the FEC deadline for finance reporting, reports showed that all three Democratic candidates for Congress outraised their respective opponent(s) for the first quarter of 2014.
Vince Insalaco, Chair of the Democratic Party of Arkansas made the following statement:

“We are so excited to have such quality candidates running for Congress this year. All three have a strong record of working with others to get things done and will bring that commitment with them to Congress.
