Mayor Mark Stodola and City Director Dean Kumpuris were among those on hand this morning when the city invited kids to inaugurate the new splash pad for small children in Riverfront Park behind the Marriott Hotel.

The city built the new feature with financial support from businessmen John Burkhalter and Wayne Woods. They made the gift in honor of their own children. The area, designed for kids up to 5 years old, opens this weekend. It sits amid the Vogel Schwartz Sculpture Garden.

Stodola said the new feature should attract more visitors,
