The death toll remains at 15 from the Sunday night tornado, according to the Arkansas Department of Emergency Management But damage assessment continues amid the cleanup of the storm that devastated parts of Pulaski, Faulkner and White counties. John Robinson of the National Weather Service, in his team’s assessment, saw hundreds of crumpled cars.
Robinson said his team’s preliminary assessment of the tornado was “at least EF3,” but further reviews were scheduled today. The worst possible is EF5. There’s been one on record in Arkansas, in 1929 in Jackson County. It killed 23 and injured 59.
Photos he provided included these of mangled cars in Faulkner County. He also provided similar shots from a mobile home park smashed in Vilonia, also hit by a tornado in 2011.
