Democratic gubernatorial nominee Mike Ross did next-to-no campaigning against a token opponent in the primary, conserving cash to begin hitting expected Republican opponent Asa Hutchinson as soon as possible. First effort above. He’s mixing an attack on Hutchinson’s past as a DC lobbyist with some small-town positive messaging.

Ross joins Hutchinson in reaching out to the “middle class.” Social scientists will tell you most people identify themselves as “middle class.” So when a voter hears such an ad, they might think the candidate is talking to them.

Hutchinson responded by saying China-related legislation the ad references was supported by Arkansas Democrats in Congress and President Clinton. He said he’d rather talk about Nancy Pelosi and Obamacare.
