Jaalen Watkins, 21, of Little Rock, was killed about 2 a.m. today in a wreck in the eastbound lanes of Interstate 630 near State Street. David Simmons and Natalia Mathews, both 21-year-old Little Rock residents, were injured. Matthews was driving, the other two were passengers in her Dodge Charger.

The State Police said Matthews’ car and another Dodge Charger were traveling east at high speed when they made contact. Both drivers lost control and left the road. Matthews and Simons, who were in the front seat, were ejected. Watkins, in the backseat, was fatally injured.

According to Fox 16, witnesses told State Police they believed the vehicles were racing. An investigation of the cause is underway.

Watkins played football at Robinson High, Ouachita Baptist and UCA.
