The Arkansas Association of Two-Year Colleges has begun a search for people who’ve earned or almost earned associate’s degrees but might not know it.

Bill Stovall, executive director of the Association, said in a release that it believes 6,000 Arkansas have earned most or all of an associate’s degree. It hopes to reach them through mail, advertising or the website, www.degreematters.org.

Some might go back to school to finish a few hours remaining. Others might have completed coursework after transferring to a four-year college, but not finished the four-year degree. The idea is that completion of a degree is worth more pay over time in the job market against those with only a high school diploma.

The effort is targeting people who enrolled in two-year colleges between 1994 and 2013, completed at least 15 courses and have not completed degrees through 2013.
