Remember when Rep. Nate Bell made a stupid remark following the Boston bombing in 2013? It earned him a heap of criticism at the time.

Boston remembers.

District 7 Boston councilman, Tito Jackson will be sponsoring an event on Monday September 22, 2014 at the Harborside Inn to benefit Arkansas Federation of Democratic Women (AFDW).

“We are standing strong with the Arkansas Federation of Democratic Women because they stood strong with Boston when we faced the most challenging crisis in modern times. The Arkansas Democratic Party was the first organization to step up and call out the offensive statement made by Arkansas State Representative Nate Bell.” said Councilman Jackson.

Jan Paschal, former President of AFDW, reached out to her old friends in the northeast to get some help with contentious mid-term elections in Arkansas. “When I saw what Nate Bell said following the Boston bombing, I was mortified and my heart broke for my friends in Boston. I knew then we had to work in unison to defeat him and other Republican embarrassments in the elections in 2014” said Pashcal.

María Báez de Hicks, current President of the AFDW will address those gathered at the event. Invitees include Boston City Council, Boston State Delegation, and Democrats at large.

María Báez de Hicks said “We are overwhelmingly grateful to Councilman Jackson for his help. Arkansas Democrats and AFDW are working extremely hard to ensure Democrats in AR are successful in November”

“Arkansans are tired of elected officials who embarrass them by doing things that are not representative of our true values of compassion, empathy, and unity. Nate Bell and a number of other AR Republicans have for too long been consummate embarrassments to our state. The plentiful money from out of state interests like the Koch brothers and Americans Crossroads makes them difficult to defeat. It’s comforting to know we are not alone in our struggle this election cycle” said Báez de Hicks

The event is from 6-8 p.m. Monday at Boston’s Harborside Lounge.
