* DRUG BUST: The U.S. attorney and state prosecutor Cody Hiland of Conway announced today a bust of 34 defendants in a meth trafficking ring in Van Buren County. Defendants are charged with possessing or distributing more than 300 pounds of methamphetamine. The indictments included firearms charges and 52 weapons were seized.

* FAKE NURSE: Susan Elaine Boyce, 60, formerly of Pleasant Plains, got a four-year federal prison sentence today for a scheme in which she managed to be hired as a school nurse in the Searcy School District for five years though she was not a nurse.She was ordered to repay $175,000 in ill-gotten pay.
