A Pulaski County jury told Judge Leon Johnson today that they couldn’t find consensus on the charges against a driver who police say shot another motorist at I-30 and E. 6th Street during a traffic altercation in May 2013. The case went to the jury yesterday afternoon, with jurors returning for more deliberations this morning before telling the Judge they were hopelessly deadlocked, which led to a mistrial.

Chris Schnarr, 28, had pleaded not guilty to one count of first degree murder in the shooting death of Arista Aldridge, 45. Police say that following a traffic dispute on I-30, Schnarr and Aldridge both exited the freeway. After a short argument between the two men, police said, Schnarr retrieved a handgun from his car and shot Aldridge twice. Aldridge later died at a local hospital. Aldridge’s four-year-old son and his mother were in the car with him at the time of the shooting.

Schnarr will be retried May 5-7, 2015, KTHV reports
