Remember when a personal problem drove Attorney General Dustin McDaniel out of the race for governor, a race in which he probably would have been anointed the front-runner?
It’s hard not to believe he’d have been in Mike Ross’ shoes last night, the party line voting was so strong and uniform. He saved a lot of time, money and shoe leather.
Poor Ross, the lights went out during his concession speech.
McDaniel hadn’t given up on a return to politics. Last night’s results have to give him — and every other Democrat — pause.
I don’t want to be overdramatic, but I think, at 64, it’s hard to envision a change in Arkansas’s fundamental political landscape in my lifetime.
