A couple of Republican elected officials hoped to have wives elected to public office in yesterday’s election. Both lost, according to unofficial results.

In Prairie Grove, Secretary of State Mark Martin’s wife, Sharon, was defeated by Sonny Hudson in a race for Prairie Grove mayor, 58 to 42, according to the Washington County Election Commission.


In Polk County, state Rep. Nate Bell’s wife Phyllis lost her race for Polk County assessor against Jovan Thomas by a 52-48 margin.
