Change of plans. I had heard that plans for a Verizon Arena concert for the 10th Clinton Library birthday celebration had been changed.
Now I know the deal. The big music fete is going to be a FREE concert at a pavilion on the grounds of the Clinton Presidential Center from 8 to 10 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 15. Again, it’s free. But you have to have a ticket. And people are encouraged to bring non-perishable food items. Details here.
Nick Jonas, Amos Lee, Court Yard Hounds, and Kool & the Gang will perform at “Celebrate 10,” described as an an “intimate musical event” with Bill Clinton and Hillary Rodham Clinton. Kevin Spacey will serve as the master of ceremonies. “House of Cards,” anyone?
There are a multitude of other events, including a picnic at that pavilion the day before. But some broader plans that had been on a schedule of ticketed events are not readily in evidence. Here’s a link to Clinton Library promoted events.
Lots of stuff here on events related to the anniversary.
This event has all the hallmarks of a typically orchestrated Clintonian event — in other words, chaos before order breaks out. But, hey, Nick Jonas should be burnin’ up.
UPDATE: In the original report I mentioned a report I’d heard about a headliner problem being related to the change from Verizon. I now understand that, while all of Verizon wasn’t going to be used, that the venue change was related to cost-savings and an ability to expand the pavilion already planned for the picnic.
