The FBI announces
that North Korea is responsible for the cyberattack on Sony Pictures, which included threats on theaters that showed “The Interview,” a comedy about assassination of the North Korean president.

The White House said the U.S. would retaliate in a “proportional” way.

Hmmm. Lots of possibilities. One could be screening “The Interview” on a Capitol mall jumbotron.

UPDATE: At an afternoon news conference, President Obama said he thought Sony had made a mistake in withdrawing the movie from release. “We cannot have a society in which some dictator some place can start imposing censorship here in the United States,” he said.

Obama’s statement was part of his year-end news conference at which he cited good job numbers, deficit reduction and 10 million newly insured as among his accomplishments.
