The University of Arkansas today released a round of improved contracts for football assistant coaches under an FOI request I’d submitted a while back.
ESPN had already reported that defensive coordinator Robb Smith was moving from $500,000 to $750,000 a year. Earlier, UAF had refused FOI requests for information about that contract under the pretext that it was in “active use.”
Tonight, I got the Smith contract, plus other deals with other assistant coaches. Bret Bielema’s 7-6 season and his belief in the need to pay big bucks to assistants has found a warm reception at UAF. Looks like 10 percent bumps generally. I’ll give you the contacts and welcome crowd sourcing commentary.
