Lt. Gov. Tim Griffin
found something to do today. He “consulted” with Gov. Asa Hutchinson office — the guv is confabbing in D.C. — and decided to close state offices early, shortly after 1 p.m.

They say it’s snowing.

The legislature plans to convene for business at 1:30 p.m. as planned.

The real test:

Will the House Rules Committee make it tonight’s “scheduled activity” — drinks and dinner at Cache Restaurant courtesy of the Mullenix lobbying firm. And can the House Insurance and Commerce get to its scheduled activity — drinks and inner courtesy of the Arkansas Insurance Coalition at Brave New Restaurant.

UPDATE: The Insurance dinner was cancelled. But the Next Level Events cocktail party thrown by Arkadelphia interests will proceed as planned. Public welcome.

These are the times that try men’s souls.
