AP’s Andrew DeMillo talks with Rep. Dan Sullivan about his bill to drastically expand places where concealed carry permit holders can take their weapons — including bars, school grounds, the state Supreme Court’s headquarters and the Capitol.

He thinks the state may not be ready for this scope just yet and there may be amendments. But he also says some constituents think it doesn’t go far enough.

Amen. Let’s clean up the confusion about open carry, too. Allow all guns everywhere and in open view. And let’s remove that exemption that lets private property owners ban guns from their premises. What part of “shall not be infringed” don’t lawmakers understand? If the Founding Fathers had wanted exceptions to the 2nd Amendment they’d have written them.

Sullivan is a teabagger — fighting Obamacare, fighting gays, fighting abortion, fighting taxes. It is paradoxical, however, that he thinks guns should be welcome in churches, schools and bars, but alcohol sales are not welcome within 1,000 feet of a church or school, based on another bill he’s co-sponsored.. The nearness of beer, I guess, is more offensive to his brand of religion than an implement designed to kill people.

Credit Sullivan: Any legislator who votes for guns in churches, schools, bars, parks, colleges and other venues would be an absolute hypocrite to  oppose them in the Capitol.
