With the judicial election less than a year off (and likely not much more than nine months away given pending legislation to move up the primary and judicial elections from May to March in 2016), the pace of candidacies for judicial elections is picking up.

Today comes the announcement that Assistant North Little Rock City Attorney Paula Juels Jones will run next year for the district judgeship in North Little Rock currently held by Jim Hamilton. The release said Hamilton has decided not to seek re-election.

She’s worked for North Little Rock since 2007 and has also been a staff attorney at the Securities Commission and a deputy prosecutor. She started the teen court juvenile diversion program in North Little Rock.
