A news conference tomorrow at Clinton National Airport will cover details of plans by Allegiant to begin flights to Los Angeles International Airport (LAX), currently not reachable by a nonstop flight from Little Rock.

For two years, Allegiant has provided seasonal service to Orlando, Fla., popular with travelers to vacation destinations.

Flights to LAX are to begin Thursday, June 4 and operate on Thursdays and Sundays. The on-line timetable shows, for example, that the flight Thursday, June 11, departs at 8:05 p.m. and arrives at 9:50 p.m., California time. The lowest fare available for that flight when I checked was $193 for one person one-way.

The flights from Los Angeles also operate on Thursday and Sunday, departing at 1:55 P.M. and arriving at 7:25 Little Rock time. Fares on the return on the dates I checked were lower than flights to LAX, as low as $118.
