I missed this earlier in all the excitement about the State Board of Education’s vote to reject the governor’s recommendation on standardized testing: Board member Kim Davis is indeed stepping down from his position, according to Arkansas Online. (I was at the meeting, but missed Davis’ announcement, which evidently happened at the end of a pre-meeting reception for departing board members Sam Ledbetter and Alice Mahony.)

Davis also confirmed that he was now working for the Walton Family Foundation. He said he began working at WFF this month, and wanted to make sure the new job was not a “distraction” to the state board.

His departure means that a full third of the board’s membership is leaving this month. Gov. Asa Hutchinson will now get to appoint three new members to the body.
