We wrote yesterday about a Facebook post in which a constituent of Sen. Jason Rapert of greater Conway said this Rapert Tweet followed his brusque reaction to a question on the parking lot of the Lowe’s in Conway.

As you may know, it became another viral episode in the bumptious senator’s reality social media show.

Our Facebook post has drawn 84 comments. There have been a torrent of comments on the Arkansas Blog Twitter feed. Rapert hit the Internet again, his outbursts irresistible catnip. Inquisitor posted a lengthy replay. Raw Story also picked up our item.

As we reported, Rapert contended that — coincidence of timing notwithstanding — his belligerent Tweet was not directed at Lance White, who’d relayed his encounter with Rapert on Facebook. Rapert said White had been rude and Rapert injected his belief that White was a supporter of same-sex marriage (in Rapert world about the worst thing you could say about a person, after support for abortion rights.)

Under heavy fire, Rapert also took to Facebook to paint himself as a victim, a familiar tactic to other instances of Rapert’s mouth overloading another orifice.

Here’s Rapert’s response to the hubbub on Facebook. He blamed his problem — not on his tweet — but on me, throwing in some insults at Lance White along the way.

You have to really be seeking attention to try and make yourself the focus of an unrelated tweet. Being in elected office is an honor, but it comes with dealing with some very unusual personalities at times.

As usual, his post gets seen by other liberals who then spin their own story, details, etc. You all know the drill. In this case,Max Brantley, the all too familiar bombastic liberal writer at the Arkansas Times who has been after me for four years for my conservative Christian stances on issues writes a story without ever asking me to verify anything, then pushes it out as an actual story. This is the same person who has actually been at the root of every single crazy political attack I have endured since being elected. He has accused me of everything you can imagine and always proves nothing – except he hates conservatives and wants to destroy all of us however he can. If I were not deemed a “public figure” I could sue him and win for defamation.

A proud moment. This is not the first time Rapert has claimed he could sue me for quoting him precisely. Please note that yesterday’s story included several efforts to get Rapert to explain his remark.

Pretty big hole in Rapert’s account of victimization. Missing is an explanation of who was harassing the armed senator if not Lance White. Does he have a lot of unpleasant public encounters? If so, they are all my fault, apparently. It would never occur to Bro. Rapert that his own words and deeds might prompt others to ask him questions.

At the moment, you can find a pretty good run of comments on Rapert’s Facebook page. He’s been known to delete comments of those who criticize him (lots there) and block their participation, so look quickly if you’d like to see a mix of opinion. He does enjoy fervent support from a number of readers.

PS — Mike Schlossberg, a Pennsylvania state representative who blogs, delved into Rapert, too. He wasn’t impressed.

Oh, and notice what Senator Repert did towards the end of his statement: He pivoted to his “Christian values” and cited a bible passage. This, in response to him being questioned for threatening to shoot people who talk to him.

This one has me more fired up than usual because it’s so offensive. It directly contradicts everything that elected officials are supposed to be: accessible to our constituents and willing to tolerate multiple perspectives. To respond like this to someone who might have been rude, and then to dig, shows that Senator Repert’s constituents are receiving a huge disservice.

As ever, another Rapert eruption got people working on photoshop.
