McCarthy crippled himself by volunteering the self-evident truth on Fox News that the ongoing House Benghazi probe — about the eighth inquiry — was intended to wreck Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton. He withdrew for much the reason Boehner did, opposition from some 40 hard-hard-right Republicans in the House. He said he couldn’t unify them. Who could?
