A news report from Louisiana expands the portrait Democrat John Bel Edwards, who defeated David Vitter and gave Democrats in Louisiana a rare Democratic governor in a Southern state.

At the time of the election, at least one Republican in Arkansas (well an IINO named Nate Bell), sniffed that Edwards was really a Republican given his conservative posture on some social issues. Perhaps Nate Bell exaggerated (imagine!):

Gov.-elect John Bel Edwards plans to issue an executive order to protect the gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender community from firing, discrimination and harassment as state employees and government contractors.

Edwards’ directive would cover state workers and government contractors in agencies and departments he oversees.

Arkansas’s Republican Gov. Asa Hutchinson not only won’t issue such an executive order, he supported legislation that protects discrimination against LGBT people by any who cite a religious pretext for their discrimination. No one dare call Asa a RINO.
