A Gurdon man has been sentenced to life in federal prison without parole in the abduction and killing of a Gurdon woman.

Kevin Bolton, 39, who had pleaded guilty, was sentenced in Hot Springs federal court in the March 12, 2013 abduction of Cassie Carter, 20 from a Gurdon apartment. The U.S. attorney’s office said Bolton and Carter left an apartment around midnight in her vehicle. Bolton was found driving the car on a Cherokee reservation in North Carolina. The body was found in the car. Bolton eventually told officers he and the victim had argued and he choked her, then drove on with the body in the trunk.
