The AP reports that former University of Central Arkansas administrator Jack Gillean has voluntarily surrendered his license to practice law.

Gillean, formerly the chief of staff at UCA, was convicted of multiple counts of commercial burglary in 2014. He dropped an appeal of his three year sentence in December in return for a prosecutor’s agreement not to seek additional penalties for positive drug tests of Gillean.

According to prosecutors, Gillean provided a master key to a student, Cameron Stark, who used it to steal answer sheets for upcoming tests. Stark was provided immunity for testifying against Gillean.

The Arkansas Supreme Court announced Thursday that it has accepted the surrender petition from Jack Gillean. Gillean says in the petition he is voluntarily surrendering the license because he was convicted of a felony, and a hearing to revoke his license “would go badly” for him.
