Sen. Jason Rapert‘s GoFundMe pledge drive to raise money for a monument to Ten Commandments to be placed at the Arkansas State Capitol met its goal last night. Rapert has raised $18,681, surpassing his goal of $17,635.
A law sponsored by Rapert allowed private funds to pay for the creation and installation of a monument bearing the biblical Ten Commandments on the Capitol grounds. Such a monument will surely invite a legal challenge on First Amendment grounds.
John Williamson of the Agape Church in Little Rock put him over the top with a $4,500 donation last night. He wrote: “Thanks Senator Rapert for the opportunity to make a difference in Arkansas! We so enjoyed having you yesterday at Agape Church.”
Backed by a Star of David wall hanging, Rapert took to Facebook for a livestream video to boast of the news:
