StoryCorps, the website devoted to using human stories to inspire a more compassionate world, has posted a story today about a couple in Eureka Springs — Dick Titus and Zeek Taylor. It aired this morning on NPR.
They represent a changing world. Gay men who moved from Tennessee to Fayetteville to distance themselves from Titus’ family. Taylor was out, but they lived a dual life for 13 years, including using two homes, because of fears that homophobia could cost Dick his job as an electrician if his sexual orientation was known. No secrets now. They are married and living in a single home in Eureka Springs.
