I’m in San Francisco this morning, where rain continues blessedly for the drought-parched state. President Obama just left town after sticking a presidential card in what they call the  Northern California Democratic Party ATM at gatherings of people named Getty and the like.

The latest Field poll shows Bernie Sanders closing the gap on Hillary Clinton in California, down to a six-point spread.  The usual demographics were evident — excitement for Sanders among younger voters, a preference for Clinton among older voters.

And speaking of younger voters: I’m in town for the happy reason of a wedding of a Little Rock native with a fresh Berkeley Ph.D.  and a promising future in urban planning. The bayside restaurant where the reception was held was filled with other brilliant young people, including a Little Rock Central classmate of the groom who is forging a brilliant career in medicine.

I heard none of the transplants planning a move back to Arkansas, much as their parents might like to see more of them and grandkids present and future. Which might be a fact worth pondering. (But, yes, there were a few young Arkansans in the crowd along with the fossils like me.)

I’ll be back in a few hours regardless to continue my own brilliant success at making Arkansas a more progressive place.
