Sprint, the wireless carrier, has opened a South Central headquarters in Little Rock to serve four states and says it will have 100 full-time employees in Little Rock by the end of the year.

Sprint has 230 stores in Arkansas, including 34 in Little Rock, had has been spending to enhance its network here.

The office is at 900 South Shackleford. Jonathan Blitz, who is president for the region, has been working there with some new employees since the first of the year. A company spokesman said some of the new jobs would be working in existing retail locations.

Various city and state officials participated in a news conference to cheer the news.
